Martina's Story
 |
“Don’t give up! It may take several attempts, but keep trying. I found that after about 6-10 days my cravings were more psychological, rather than physical. It wasn’t that I wanted a cigarette- I just felt like I should have one.”

Martina quit smoking cold turkey in 1986 and hasn’t smoked since. She quit for health reasons as well as some pressure coming from her commanding officer. Her State Adjutant General put out a request that all her officers try to quit smoking. She had tried four or five times using the Nicorette Gum but found that if she just got the nicotine out of her system she had an easier time quitting. Within a few weeks of her quit she discovered she had increased energy, improved health and had lost her smoker's cough. Her skin and hair looked much healthier and her sense of taste and smell improved as well.
